The triple-board bomb pot takes the double-board bomb pot one step further: three boards, each worth a third of the pot. Everyone antes, nobody bets before the flop, and you play Pot-Limit Omaha on all three boards at once.
How a hand plays
- Everyone antes. No blinds.
- Four cards each. Dealt face down.
- No preflop betting. Three flops come straight away, one on each board.
- The flops. Round of betting.
- The turns. One card on each board. Round of betting.
- The rivers. One card on each board. Final round of betting.
- Showdown. Each board wins a third of the pot.
Because three boards use a lot of cards, the game takes 2 to 8 players.
Making your hand
On each board you make an Omaha hand: exactly two of your four cards and exactly three of that board's. You can use different cards from your hand on different boards.
Betting is pot-limit: the most you can bet or raise is the size of the pot, counting your call first when you raise.
How the pot splits
Each board is settled on its own, and each one is worth a third of the pot:
- Win all three and you take the lot.
- Win two and you take two thirds.
- Win one and you take a third, which often doesn't cover what you put in.
If two players tie on a board, they share that board's third.
What three boards do to the game
- More hands are worth playing on. With three boards, it's rare to miss everything.
- One board isn't worth much. A third of the pot is small, so a hand that's only good on one board shouldn't put in a lot of chips.
- Read all three boards before you bet. It's easy to focus on the board you're winning and forget the two you're losing.
An example hand
You hold A♦ A♣ K♦ Q♣. The flops are:
- Board 1: A♠ 8♥ 3♦. Your aces make three aces.
- Board 2: K♣ Q♦ 7♠. Your K♦ Q♣ make two pair, kings and queens.
- Board 3: 9♣ 6♣ 2♥. A♣ Q♣ gives you the nut flush draw.
A strong hand on two boards and the best draw on the third. In a triple-board bomb pot, that's a very good spot to bet.
Tips
- Bet the hands that can win two or three boards. That's where the money is.
- Don't overplay one board. A third of the pot is a small prize.
- Pick a sensible ante. With three boards the action is wild, and the ante is paid every hand.
